I received the Oberwerk 25x100D from UPS
unharmed. The two layer boxing was well done.
Absent a forklift running a blade through the
box, there was little chance it could be
damaged in transit.

The bino's come in a "heavy duty aluminum case"
with keys included. The case itself has semi-
custom hard foam to protect the binos.
Unfortunately, the handle ripped off the
case within 15 yards of me trying to carry it
from my car to the bench where I was going to
set up. I don't think it was designed to carry
the weight of these monster lenses. (I have
replaced the delivered case with a Storm
IM2500, and installed custom cut foam for the
binos.

I installed th bino's on my Manfrotto 190
tripod with no difficulty (using a manfrotto
ball-head). Given the weight of these glasses,
you NEED a heavy duty ball head and tripod to
secure the binos.

The glass is excellent quality, and I
appreciate the time and discussion that I had
regarding whether to get the Deluxe version or
not.

I use these bino's in the desert, looking at
smallish objects (18x24 inches) over a mile
distant (last time out was from 1,900 yards
away). I need every scrap of clarity that I
can find. These binos wroked great. For the
money you cannot beat the quality or customer
service.

I received the Oberwerk 25x100 IF on November 10, 2009. I received them from UPS Ground and the box was intact and it had written in large red writing "Extremely Fragile-Delicate Instruments". I opened the box to see multiple foam peanuts and then I saw a second box. I opened that box and there were multiple levels of bubble wrap. I then saw a heavy duty aluminum case with keys included. I opened the case to find the carrier strap. I took the binoculars out and inspected them briefly. They felt very secure and heavy. I highly recommend a serious mount for these. I use a Quickset Professional Video Tripod. Hurricane Ida has dampened my excitment but I will repost later when I have clear skies with more reviews. I own a pair of Celestron Skymaster 25x100. It had decent optics but the built in mount was horrible and it felt very insecure even on a professional mount. I can tell the Oberwerk is going to be a far superior binocular.
