You know...I couldn't fully explain all the technical specs and terms of coma or c.a. or astigmatism. I can tell you these provided an EXTREMELY sharp pinpoint stars across the field of view and I don't think the Orion Nebula ever looked so good :). Saturn looked pretty dang good as well. (no, I couldn't resolve the rings, but I could tell they were there)I had a pair of Fujinon 10x70s, however I returned them and kept these. Oberwerk did one heck of a bang-up job on these!

These binocs rock! Superb glass for digging deep into the night sky, or for watching that bear across the meadow. Needle-sharp stars nearly edge-to-edge, glowing nebulae, luminous clusters, and a panoply of galaxies tickle my eyes when I turn these binoculars skyward. I'll never run out of stuff to observe with them! (Can you say, "trapezium"?)

But they're not lightweights; support of some kind is mandatory. Moreover, I would have preferred individual focus over center focus, due to the ruggedness of that design and the fact that I'll use them 99% for astronomy. But I can't really quibble; I obviously knew about this going into the deal.

I initially tried the Zhumell 20x80 Giants, and found them wanting in several ways. So I "traded up" to these Oberwerks. When they arrived, I carefully checked them for collimation and manufacturing quality. But it was "first light" through them that proved I'd made the right choice.

Overall, I am deliriously happy with these binoculars. (So much that I got busy and built a parallelogram mount to get the most out of them!)
