- 2/15 BigBinoculars.com and SeeCoast- If you need to permanently install a binocular or telescope outdoors, there is only one manufacturer to consider. SeeCoast binoculars and telescopes have been built in the USA since 1960, and are designed to withstand many years of adverse weather and public abuse. Available with coin or non-coin operation.
- 12/31 2009 a Record Year- Despite the poor economy, Oberwerk finished 2009 with record-high sales, thanks in part to an order of 141 Oberwerk 25/40x100's, which are now on their way to security forces in Iraq.
- 12/19 Last-Minute Shoppers- We'll do our best to have your orders delivered by Thursday the 24th. Depending on your distance from Ohio, UPS 2-day or even Next Day shipping may be required, which can substantially increase your shipping cost- so order as early as possible. Contact us by phone or email if you have any questions about this.
- 12/19 Some Products Out-of-Stock- Due to a surprisingly-strong 4th quarter, we are out-of-stock on several popular items. Each product description page includes a Stock Level, which is found near the Add to Cart button. It will show either "In Stock", "Low Stock" (which means only 1 left), and "Out-of-Stock". Please note the stock level when ordering Christmas gifts.
- 12/9 Free Tall Tripod Upgrade- Order the 25/40x100 Long-Range Observation Binocular or BT-100 before 12/31/09 and we'll automatically upgrade the standard wood tripod to the tall wood tripod (normally $50 extra) at no charge. The tall tripod is just 5" longer than the standard tripod when fully collapsed, but adds 10" of extra height when the tripod is fully extended.
- 10/14 SteadyMount Discontinued- The SteadyMount has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Prices have been slashed on our remaining inventory of SteadyMounts and SteadyMount Accessories.
- 9/25 Oberwerk Tall Tripod Option- The Oberwerk wood tripods that are included with our Long-Range and BT-Series binoculars are now available in a special tall version ($50 extra) that adds 5" of length to each leg section, for up to 10" of additional height at full extension- tall enough to do stand-up astronomical viewing with straight-through-view binoculars!
- 7/15 Fujinon 150mm Binocular Down to One Model- We just tried to place an order for the top-of-the-line Fujinon 25x150 EM-SX Binocular, and were informed that Fujinon Japan is only producing the base model- the 25x150 MT-SX. Sadly, the ED models are no longer available, even by special order.

We'll doing something a little different this year- our first ever "Oberwerk Garage Sale", where we'll be clearing out all kinds of Oberwerk stuff, from our Russ Research Center office, at big savings. Apollo Rendezvous is sponsored by the Miami Valley Astronomical Society. Our office will be closed on June 12th and 13th.
- See You at NEAF?- Visit our booth at NEAF (Northeast Astronomy Forum) in Suffern, NY, April 18-19, 2009. - Miyauchi 90° BR-141!- The rarest production binocular we've ever offered, the 90° version of the Miyauchi BR-141 has never before been available in the USA. This binocular is the only BR-141 produced by Miyauchi in 2008. Because Miyauchi (the company) is now for sale, there will probably be no more BR-141's- unless a new owner decides to continue production.
- New Oberwerk 1.25" Eyepieces for BT Series Binoculars- We have three new eyepiece options for owners of Oberwerk Binocular Telescopes. The 12mm (50x) and 8mm (75x) perfectly compliment the 25x pair supplied with these binoculars, and are very reasonably priced at $99.95/pair. There is also a special 16mm (38x) pair that gives even better image quality than the 25x, with a wide 70° AFOV- although these are more expensive at $199.95/pair. See them all here.
- Huge Oberwerk Shipment on the Way!- Just in time for the Holiday Season, we have a record-setting $1,000,000 shipment of Oberwerk binoculars on the way to our warehouse in Ohio. Therefore, please order early to avoid the high cost of expedited shipping!

- Oberwerk Sport RP Series- Little binoculars from BigBinoculars.com?? It's true- the new Sport RP (Roof Prism) Series are very compact and ergonomic. There's an 8x32mm, 10x42mm, and 12x50mm. These are high-quality, waterproof, rugged- and surprisingly affordable! Internal focusing means the eyepieces don't rack in and out, and they have the widest focus range of all Oberwerk binoculars (down to 8 feet)!
- Bogen/Manfrotto Tripods and Heads- After years of searching for less-expensive alternatives to Bogen/Manfrotto tripods and heads, we've decided that there's no such thing (especially when it comes to critical areas, such as crank-up elevators and fluid head smoothness). Therefore, we've negotiated better pricing on Bogen/Manfrotto, and are able to offer the lowest prices available on these excellent-quality products from Italy.

When a binocular is seriously damaged or needs extensive repair, exchanging it for a discounted new unit is often less expensive than repairing the binocular. Click here for details.
- 12/06 Binocular Forum- We're implementing a customer forum for binocular discussion, questions, and answers. Check it out under the menu choice "Binocular Info & Support", or by going to www.binocularforum.com, and help us get the discussion started.

- 11/11 Kuhne/Nikko 30/60x180mm- From the late Kevin Kuhne's workshop in Torrington, Connecticut- the Nikko 180mm Cooke F/4.5 triplet featured in Dr. Hans Seeger's Ferngläser und Fernrohre (3rd edition, pg. 275), now on display at the BigBinoculars.com showroom. This was Kuhne's last WWII binocular restoration. Now fitted with Zeiss 30x and 60x oculars, Kuhne custom fork mount, brass counterweights, and Gibraltar pier. At 350 lbs. (with mount), it is believed to be the largest privately-owned binocular in the world. The beauty of this historic instrument, as well as Kuhne's incredible machine work, can't be described in words, so here are some pictures.

It's very preliminary at this point, we're just getting started. As we get better at this, we'll add a bunch more, and update and improve what's there now. Check it out. We welcome your ideas and suggestions on these videos.
